World Environment Day

On June 5th, the world celebrated World Environment Day and this year the campaign #OnlyOneEarth invited for a collective action on a global scale to celebrate and encourage environmental action from us all. At TP Aerospace, we want to take part in raising awareness and take action to address the environmental and climate challenges we see.

“We all have an active part to play to ensure that we transition to a more sustainable future. This is one of the largest challenges of our time, which requires a close and thoughtful cooperation between politicians and industry players. We, at TP Aerospace, are committed to do what we can.” – Nikolaj Jacobsen, CEO

Air travel provides great economic and social benefits for societies all over the world, amongst other by facilitating tourism and growth. But it also has its impacts, and especially over the past few years, there has been a significant shift within the industry towards stronger environmental commitments.

As a global organization, TP Aerospace has always been committed to taking responsibility for our share of the impacts, and as a company with great growth ambitions and potential, we always seek to be at the forefront of the environmental agenda to ensure that our growth happens sustainably and to best support our customers in meeting their environmental goals.

“Any organization aiming to balance growth and environmental concerns face challenges that must be addressed at a central place of the business. As a niche player, we have made product stewardship a central element of our growth strategy, and we constantly aim to minimize the impacts of our products through their lifecycle. That includes proper managing waste from maintenance operations, optimizing recycling and disposal of end-of-life material and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.” – Nikolaj Jacobsen, CEO

Earlier this year, we announced that TP Aerospace had strengthened our commitment to the green transition of the aviation industry when we defined a long-term climate goal of reducing our greenhouse gas emissions by 28% by 2030; a target that was approved by the Science Based Target Initiative (SBTI) and validated to be aligned with the Paris Agreement’s ambition to limit global warming to well-below 2oC.

It is not only on a global scale that TP Aerospace addresses environmental concerns as environmental awareness is also increasingly shaping the everyday personal and professional lives for many employees. A good example of that is our largest facility in Norderstedt, Germany, where more and more employees are biking to work.

“In Norderstedt, we offer work bikes to our staff to provide and encourage our employees to an alternative to driving and taking public transportation. We have seen an increase in the applications for these bikes, which means that more employees now arrive at work by e-bike.” – Charlotte Paschen, HR Manager, Norderstedt

A large amount of our employees is taking an active choice to reduce their climate footprint and working for a company that offers solutions for them to make greener choices is of high importance to them. We particularly see the younger generation at TP Aerospace being more conscious about the environmental issues.

“The issues relating to climate change are among the most serious problems of our time, and one issue of great concern to my generation. As a student, I’m happy to work in a company, that follows the guidelines of the Paris Agreement, and take concrete and specific actions to reduce our CO2 emissions.” – Christian Christensen, Student Assistant, Copenhagen
